KEY EXPERIENCE

Kris Seeburn is a Lecturer in Information Systems Audit and Control, IT & Enterprise Governance, Computer Security, Information warfare and Programme Director of the Master in Computer Security & Forensics at the University of Technology, Mauritius. He is a member of Advisory Board of The New Security Foundation, Member of the The American College of Forensic Examiners & Institute of Forensics Science. He is Chair / Founder of the ISACA Mauritius Chapter in Formation, President / Founder of the Information Security Group of Mauritius, Member of the Academic Relations Committee of ISACA. Fellow of the International Professors Project. He sits on various National and Regional committees and boards on IT Governance and Security Management as well as representative expert on security and academia on National Key initiatives hosted by the Government of Mauritius. He was recently ackowledged as a Member & Fellow of The Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. He is also a Spokesperson for ISACA / ITGI and recognised as an expert in the fields of Security / Governance / Audit.

At UTM he is the Coordinator for - SAP University Alliances Programme, Sun Academic Initiative, Software Engineering Institute & ISACA.

He is also an IT-Governance and IT-Security external consultant for a number of public and private companies. He has also served as consultant and auditor for Deloitte as well as Accenture. A seasoned Independent Consultant.

He is currently embarked on his PhD and working closely with key partners such as SEI (Software Engineering Institute – Carnegie Mellon University, USA), MERAKA Institute of South Africa, SAP Research. He holds key research interest in IT Security and IS Security Processes.

He is currently working on the setup of the first Southern Hemisphere – Centre for Cyber security and Forensics Research. The Centre will be hosting a number of security services, such as Information Assurance consultancy, Computer & Internet Forensics and many more to come. He is also very process oriented as his areas of expertise include IT-Governance, IT policies and standards development, risk management, risk assessment and control evaluation, service level management, problem and incident management, disaster recovery planning, business recovery processes, Secure Software, business process management and re-engineering.
